he Design Studio at Scriptoria is the starting point for many of our services. We offer a wide array of creative services, with experience in both traditional printing and electronic publishing. We can take a project from initial consultation through final deliverables. Logo and insignia design, stationary, marketing materials and web site design are just a few of the integrated creative services we can provide. Design Principles & Process In general, we take a "less is more" approach to design. Clean, functional and elegant are the guiding principles behind most of our creative work. We recognize that many of the pieces we design will be used in both printed and online applications, so we strive to create a "look" that will work effectively in multiple formats. That's the first step in our seamless integration approach to service. The process usually begins with a preliminary consultation that focuses on the concept you want to convey and the overall goal of the project. We'll ask you how the project fits into your short- and long-term needs, and review other factors that may inform our design approach. Finally, we'll discuss your likes, dislikes, and preferences, and suggest preliminary concepts or themes. Following the initial meeting, we'll prepare a series of preliminary designs, (typically called "roughs") utilizing different approaches and styles. We'll review them with you, and use your feedback to refine and finalize the design. This stage in the process is also when we finalize color choices and review deliverables. Once the final design is approved we create all of the pieces required for the final deliverables—file types, formats and sizes, page layouts and any other production pieces needed. If we're doing logo design and corporate identity work, we'll produce a complete set of documentation, including Style Guides and Quick Reference cards. Samples Below are samples of our corporate logo designs and other projects. To see more samples (or to begin the design process) please contact us to set up a consultation. You'll need Acrobat© Reader© from Adobe© to view some of the samples in this section. A free copy of the Reader© software is available for download from the Adobe© web site. A link to the Adobe© web site is available at the bottom of this page.
ECI,
Inc. - Logo redesign in conjunction with a corporate name change. Deliverables:
stationary
(including printing), electronic letterhead, multiple file formats (including
flat, three dimensional, and dedicated printer files), Style
Guide and Quick Reference
card. Case study of design process available.
(Documentation
samples are available in PDF format for viewing only. See note below.)
Annville
Inn - This project started with creating a logo to match a sign that
was already in production, with the added challenge of creating a "look"
and "feel" that would match the "arts and crafts" style of the inn itself,
including using specific Dard Hunter fonts that are a unique part of the
arts and crafts school of design. Another requirement was matching the
color palette of the inn's interior design. The end result was "stacked"
version of the design (shown above) and a long variation, in two elegant
colors–a rich crimson/burgundy balanced with a cooler, softer sage green.
Web site (annvilleinn.com) was created with the same design imperatives, starting with the client sending us color chips of the paints used in the inn. From there, we developed the color pallette for the website and the master design templates for the site. Other deliverables included business cards and PDF information sheets. Case study coming soon.
Duet
Vocal Academy - Logo design for startup teaching studio.
Web site is currently under development as a beta test site for Scriptoria's new, entry level Value Internet Program (VIP) for small businesses and non-profits looking for an economical, efficient and easy way to establish a presence on the Internet. Case study coming soon.
Cam
Services, Inc. - We took a startup company with no corporate identity
and delivered a logo, business cards, printed marketing materials and a
complete set of trade show booth displays in less than 48 hours–in time
to introduce their new company at one of the largest home and garden shows
in the Washington, DC area.
Damascus
Theatre Company - A new look for a small, nonprofit civic theatre group
that needed an image makeover. The old logo was not ideal for online use,
silk screening or other applications. (And no one in the organization knew
where to find the original art files!) We gave them a clean, strong and
modern look that will reproduce well in a variety of settings and media,
from single color newspaper ads through 2-color silk screening, full color
printing and on-screen rendering.
Case study coming soon.
Appraisers Mid-Atlantic Group - Stationary redesign using existing logo and embroidered clothing.
Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders - Logo design and stationary (including printing). See the Forms section for samples of chemotherapy and practice administration forms.
See the Web Hosting section for web site design samples. Use the InfoForm
